LUISA DUNN PHOTOGRAPHY

Who doesn't love getting all goo goo and ga ga over some squishy newborn goodness, let alone when it's your very own. When it came down to it, deciding on whether or not to get a newborn shoot done for Willow was a legitimate no brainer; but it all came down to finding the right photographer for her newborn shoot. My girlfriend showed me the Instagram page of the incredibly talented Luisa Dunn and I fell in love with her style immediately, it's pretty hard not to fall in love with her work I don't even need to try and justify why I picked her as her work speaks for itself.

It was important for us to collaborate with a photographer that was happy to keep the images under wraps until our New Idea feature was published and Luisa was happy to do so. New Idea even chose to include one of her images of Willow in the feature, and how could they not!

I had absolutely no idea how a newborn shoot pans out so I had no expectations at all. The thing I loved the most about working with Luisa was that it was an entire experience from the minute we entered her space and an experience I will never forget. It's not just turning up to someones studio and wham bam thank you ma'am... take a few photos and voila you're done! Oh no, it's not like that at all.

Taking your newborn to a photoshoot at only 10 days old is exciting but it's also quite daunting at the same time. Here you are, bathing your bebe at 7am; lathering her in GAIA natural sleep-time bath wash and putting her on the boob for a decent morning feed so that she is nice and dreamy upon arrival to hopefully allow getting into these squishy positions at a breezy pace.

As soon as we entered Luisa's home, we were greeted by her Assistant and Baby Whisperer Lea, where she offered to take Willow from my hands to start the process of the shoot and then guided us to Luisa's studio. The room is heated at a warm 25/26 degrees, meanwhile there is a heartbeat sound being played along with a baby shoosher which creates a calmness about the space for your baby, pretty much you are now part of a complete zen-like heavenly space.

Watching the shoot unfold was amazing, you would have no idea how much depth and work goes into perfecting these images. From the initial set up of each theme/look, to then positioning baby to make it all come together. There were many emotional happy tears as I was able to see the images come to light. I remember the exact moment I got all teary, Luisa had a vision of a specific shot of myself with Willow, once I saw the image of the two of us together I felt overwhelmed with so much love and little fluttery feels in my heart and soul. It was the realisation that WOW, she is my baby girl, she is half of me, she's my mini me. It was the first moment I felt exceptionally proud of myself for creating such a beautiful little selfless soul. My definition of nothing but perfection.

And that's what Luisa does, she brings even more love and light into your life with her vision in her images.

If you are expecting and you are based in Brisbane, and you're thinking about doing a newborn shoot, I don't think there is elsewhere to look if you are able to book in with Luisa. She is booked out in advance so be sure to contact her ASAP to ensure that you can book in with her.

We cannot thank you enough Luisa for capturing these beautiful images of our baby girl that we will cherish forever! It's a pleasure working with you and we look forward to shooting with you when the little miss has reached her milestone of sitting up.
